Jesus said, “The greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23:11) A Christianity void of sacrificial service does not make one a Christian anymore then collecting model airplanes makes one a pilot. Every Christian is a servant! The exact service will vary, but service to God’s people is not optional. With that said, Life-Giver Church is looking for Spirit-filled Saints to serve in our Sunday worship gatherings in several and diverse ways.
Tabernacle Servants:
Before the Temple was built in Jerusalem, God had the people of Israel worship Him in a portable “Temple” also called the tabernacle. Certain skilled men were responsible with setting up and tearing down the tabernacle as the people travelled throughout the wilderness.
We are in a similar situation. Each week we need to set up and tear down our worship space. For this we need skilled men and women who can help transport, setup and tear down our “holy” space. Do you have a vehicle that can pull a small trailer? Are you able to lift moderately heavy (Max 50 pounds) things? Want to learn technical skills like sound and video? Then join the Tabernacle team!
Song Servants:
In 1 Chronicles 6:31-47 King David appoints people to minister in the Tabernacle in “the service of song in the house of the LORD.” Has the Spirit of God appointed you to minister through song? Have you been gifted with musical talent? We strongly encourage you to use these gifts in the service of the LORD! Join our Temple Musicians and glorify God in song!
Family Integration Servants: (Nursery-Grade 3)
Although we are striving to be a “Family integrated church” we also understand that some families have never heard of this type of ministry. Many people cannot imagine participating in a whole worship service while having their children with them the whole time. Modern Church culture has programmed many of us into thinking we ought to send our kids off to little church, while we stay in big church. We’d like to change that. Powerful discipleship happens during family worship, and the long term fruit is undeniable. Not only is age segregated ministry not biblical, it is not as effective.
In an attempt to empower parents into holistic family worship, we’d like to offer a voluntary kids church for those parents who are not acquainted yet with family integrated church. Our hope is to help parents by taking baby steps to family worship. We do not want to throw them into a foreign ministry without any training or encouragement.
Kid’s workers will teach and watch children for the duration of the sermon. Are you passionate about seeing kids grow in the knowledge of God? Do you love serving families? Then this ministry is for you!
Hospitality Servants:
Do you love hosting? Are you the type to cook dinner for everyone, bust out the good dishes and have a party, just for the sake of having a party? Then you’ll love being a Hospitality Servant.
We need people to bring treats, drinks and make our worship gatherings feel like home. Many tasks fall under Hospitality including but not limited to, ushering (collecting offering), food and beverages, greeting, security etc. Your job is to do what every Christian ought to do, be a warm, welcoming presence to the end that unbelievers would embrace Christ and believers will be empowered to serve.
Elder Servants:
Do you feel called to preaching/teaching? Are you a natural leader? We’re looking for Pastors/Elders to serve in the oversight leadership of our congregation. Elder Servants must show the fruit of 1 Timothy chapter 3.
*The office of Elder/Pastor, as prescribed by the Scriptures, (1 Timothy 2:12, 1 Timonty 3:2, Titus 1:6, Acts 15:23) is reserved for men exclusively.
Deacons/Deaconesses:
Deacon literally means, “servant.” Are you organized and loved to put things in order? We’re looking for Deacons and Deaconesses to serve with the Elders in overseeing all the different needs of the congregation. Deacons are front line soldiers who serve in the trenches of life. Delivering food to the sick, bringing aid to the hurting and serving the Church of God for His glory are just some of the awesome responsibilities of a Deacon. Consider becoming a Deacon or Deaconess!
If any of these servant leadership calls is on your life, please contact us at, lifegiver1545@gmail.com or talk with Pastor Alin about what you discern God is speaking to you. If there are other ways you’d like to serve that are not mentioned on this list, don’t hesitate to let us know, we love thinking outside the box and hearing suggestions. The Church is a family, the Church is an Army, we need each other.
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11)
